The End of the Beginning Empty
PostSubject: The End of the Beginning   The End of the Beginning EmptyThu Aug 09, 2012 5:48 pm

Pyre had found them. He'd caught them unaware (but not unarmed, Nowe very rarely went anywhere unarmed) but it had been enough to surprise them. He'd taken out Twister first. He'd caught Twister before he could pull his crystal and form his weapon and Twister had gone down. He was vulnerable. But he wasn't out of the fight yet. Not dead. Just hurt. Out of commission long enough for Pyre to move his focus to Nowe and Reaper. Two against one wasn't bad odds for the assassin and the angel. They were fighters, they could handle themselves.

But they hadn't counted on Twister rejoining the fight, hurt though he was. Pyre knew he was outnumbered and had made a very daring move. He'd accused Brio of betraying Reaper. True or not, it had made the angels pause in shock long enough for Pyre to make a move on Reaper. Nowe saw it coming and he reacted without thinking. He'd rushed to Reaper, shoving him aside as he himself tried to dive out of the line of fire (in this case very literally). It had worked to a degree. Reaper was safe and relatively uninjured.

Nowe was not as lucky. He was hurt. Badly hurt. The attack Pyre had used had caught him across the back as he'd dove to save Reaper. He wasn't sure what was going on around him. His mind was filled with the pain of the burns the attack had left him with. A part of him was coherent enough to realize he was lucky to still be alive. If Pyre had hit him full on instead of at an angle like he had he probably would be dead. That was, after all, Pyre's goald. To kill all of them. That same small part of his brain also recognized that he didn't hurt where he should. There was pain, yes, severe pain. But it seemed to radiate outward from a void where Pyre's attack had hit. Which meant he was more seriously hurt than he thought. No pain meant a deeper, more severe burn. And burns were already hard for vampires to heal.

He might have been screaming, he really didn't know if he was as everything seemed to be dull and fuzzy, drowned out by the pain he felt and the surge of panic rising. Could Reaper and Twister fight off Pyre? Or were they all doomed to end up dead in some dark alley, burned to ashes and never to be found? He tried to focus, failed and tried again, blinking at the figures he could make out through the haze of pain. He focused enough to see Reaper, scythe raised, heading for Pyre who was fending off the injured Twister before darkness claimed him and he gave in to unconsciousness.

The fight that had broken out could have been easily handled had Pyre not stooped low enough to distracted Reaper. The Fallen stopped short, his crimson eyes wide on his brother. "No... You're wrong... He wouldn't... Not to me..." Stuck staring at the Fire user, he was only vaguely aware of the fact that he was being shoved out of the way, only registering what was going on when he landed on the ground hard. He gave a grunt, shaking his head sharply, he turned to see what had thrown him out of the way... Only to give a sharp cry of anger. Nowe. The bastard had hurt Nowe... "You son of a bitch!" The Fae was back on his feet in what seemed like seconds, his scythe flashing as he dragged it around to face the other. Twister was already there, his fans glinting in the dull light as he lashed out at his sibling, face contorted in pain and sorrow at the same time. "You won't win against me, Dalten! You never have!" He crowed, lashing out with his fire dagger just as a flash of metal came closer.

He twisted in time to widen his eyes at Reaper, a harsh scream escaping when the scythe's blade buried itself deep into the man's side. "If he is dead, I'll keep you in agony for the rest of your existence..." The Death Fae was, of course, meaning Nowe, and he twisted the scythe to carve into the Angel's side more. "You will never know the release of death... You will be tormented. For eternity. And I will be the one to do it..." He swept the blade to the side, shoving it under the man's ribcage and grinning wickedly at the other's screaming. His normally bright crimson eyes took on a much deeper shade of the color, turning the hue of fresh blood. A cackle escaped him, and he yanked the Fire user's dagger away from him. "I could carve you like a Halloween Pumpkin..." The Fallen whispered, leaning in almost lovingly as he shoved it into the other's throat. He began a steady tugging motion, burying the dagger's blade deeper with every movement and smirking when the other gurgled. "R-reaper...?" The almost timid voice of Twister broke in, but not even that was enough to deter him.

Pulling the dagger down, he allowed it to carve a path straight down to the other's stomach, getting coated in the blood of the man and smirking a bit at it. Reaper licked some off of his hand and looked around boredly, almost forgetting the reason why he was tormenting his brother - until he heard the Vampire's screaming. It wasn't as loud as Pyre's had been, but it was the only sound to snap him out of what he was at that moment. Blinking, the Fallen yanked his scythe free and turned towards the sound, giving a cry and running over to the man when the sound stopped. Was he...? He skidded to a stop and fell to his knees, checking his love over. He was still alive... But if he didn't get help soon, he wouldn't be for long. Gathering the assassin in his arms, he left Twister to deal with Aiden, closing his eyes briefly when he felt his older brother die. The Fire User was dead, and at his hands... He wondered if Patch would ever forgive him.

Thankfully for the little group, there -was- help on the way. A black peacock looking bird nearly crash landed nearby, causing Reaper to nearly growl and narrow his bloody red eyes on the creature. Javaid shifted back in a panic, his lavender colored eyes wild. "Easy, Angel... It's just me. Is Nowe alrig- ..." Seeing the state the other was in, it took the Phoenix a few long moments to convince him to release the Vampire, and a few longer moments to talk him into taking him somewhere he would be able to get the help needed. It took a while, but the group (plus Pyre's body), ended up back somewhere Reaper was convinced they wouldn't be going back to any time soon - the Elemental Home. He refused to budge from the man's side as he was worked on, and he would be curled up next to the bed whenever he woke.

PostSubject: Re: The End of the Beginning   The End of the Beginning EmptyWed Aug 29, 2012 2:23 am

Nowe would likely never know the full details of what happened after he blacked out. He'd learn what he could but there would still be holes and blank spaces. Once Javaid had convinced Reaper to get Nowe somewhere he could be helped, he'd called Sage and told her where to meet them. Upon their arrival, there would be chaos as Sage took charge of what would be needed to immediately tend the vampire's injuries and keep him alive. There wasn't much that could really be done except to stop the bleeding and bandage him up. But it was the stopping the bleeding that needed to be done sooner rather than later. Whatever help the angels could give she would gladly accept though she warned them all that when he woke Nowe would be very, very dangerous. Pain, loss of blood and confusion would make him wild and unpredictable. He could very well lash out and kill anyone withing reach before he realized he was safe. Not that her warning would have stopped Reaper but she gave it anyway. Once he was as stable as they were going to get him, she warned them again to be careful and faded into the background, settling herself in a corner of Nowe's room where she could reach him if she needed to stop him from hurting someone.

Pain was the first thing Nowe's mind would register. But the pain and his memory of why he was even in pain was dulled by lack of blood. He felt weak and light-headed; he was vulnerable and that wasn't good. He never liked being vulnerable. But becuase he felt vulnerable, he was hyper aware of the fact that there were people nearby and the smell of blood heavy on the air. He was still and quiet for another moment trying to remember what had happened to put him where he was while all the while mentally keeping tabs in the people around him. Their presence wasn't a threat since they just seemed to be standing around but he was still wary and mentally defensive. Someone nearby moved closer, just a step, but for some reason the sound of movement brought the last few moments before he'd blacked out rushing back and his eyes snapped open and he lashed out with a hiss, getting hold of Javaid's shirt who had stepped closer when he'd noticed Nowe was breathing (something he hadn't been doing while he was out). Lucky for the phoenix, Sage was able to pull him away and out of danger even as Nowe glanced wildly around the room and pressed himself back against the wall where he could more easily defend himself and his injured back. He didn't seem to recognize anyone and Sage motioned for them all to stay back warning them again that he wasn't himself and in that moment he was at his most dangerous.

The End of the Beginning Empty
PostSubject: Re: The End of the Beginning   The End of the Beginning EmptyThu Aug 30, 2012 12:52 am

The mood in the room was...thick. Borderlining anxiety, gloom, and hope, it was hard to get a direct read on it. Those who had lingered in the room to make sure the man would be alright were curled up with each other, though they seemed to gravitate towards the Water Angel in the corner. Patch's gaze was dead as he stared at the opposite wall, his face slack from lack of emotion. He knew what had happened to his 'element twin'. How could he not, with the close bond they shared? He also knew that Pyre had deserved what he'd gotten, and didn't hold it against Reaper. Had he been in the same situation, but facing Brio, it's likely he would have done the same. That didn't mean it made it completely okay, however. The man refused to let anyone touch him, casting a long look to anyone who dared get close enough to try. So they curled up in a loose circle around him and settled in to wait. They didn't know how long they would be waiting, but it wasn't long until the Phoenix Fae trailed into the room, his light blue gaze worried as they flickered to Nowe. "Nothing yet?" He asked quietly, falling quiet from the look he received from the Fallen curled up next to the man. "... Never mind... Hm?" His eyes were intent on the Vampire for a moment, having seen his chest rise and fall.

Inching closer to get a better look, he gave a bird-screech of alarm when Nowe lashed out to grab his shirt, blue eyes wide on the man. "Nowe, it's me!" He was pulled away, though his eyes never left the man as he'd backed into the corner, his eyes worried. Reaper was alarmed as well, but for a different reason - he didn't want the Vampire to bolt in his panic. The Fallen eased out of his curled up position and slipped a bit closer, hands held up in a peaceful gesture, ignoring Sage's warning. "Nowe..." He kept his voice crushed like velvet, crimson eyes searching the wild blue gaze of his love. "It's okay... Look. See? We're alive... We're fine. ... Love... Focus on me, alright?" He stopped just a little ways away to avoid making the other feel like he was being backed into a corner and trapped, a slight frown tugging at his lips. "Come back to me. You aren't in danger here."

Movement caught the vampire's attention and he fixated on Reaper, though didn't forget that there were others in the room. But there was something....some emotion in the fuzzy reaches of his mind and he merely gave Reaper a wary look when he came closer. He didn't appear threatening and so Nowe didn't lash out immediately. But he also didn't relax right away either, there was too much going on in his head for him to grasp one particular thought or emotion. He did know, somewhere inside, that this man wouldn't hurt him. He also knew that he had no real desire to attack the other. Focus. He needed to focus. He couldn't let his guard down. Nowe closed his eyes and shook his head a bit; fighting against the fuzz that was clouding his head and trying to focus on figuring out what all had transpired and why he was where he was. He remembered a fight, he'd ended up hurt protecting someone....

When he opened his eyes again, he fixated back on Reaper and moved faster than his injured body should have allowed causing Sage to gasp and move forward with the intent of protecting Reaper. But Nowe merely stumbled forward and clung to the Fallen as much to keep himself upright as to be near Reaper and be able to feel his love in his arms. "You're safe. I was....I thought you were..." His voice was barely above a whisper as he clung to his lover and he was obviously shaky and weak. Reaper would be the only one aware of just how much he was relying on the other to even be able to stand but any attempts that might have been made to pry him away from Reaper would be met with a very unhappy glare though Nowe was in no position to really stop anyone that was determined enough to try anyway.

The End of the Beginning Empty
PostSubject: Re: The End of the Beginning   The End of the Beginning EmptyThu Aug 30, 2012 1:31 am

It was a tense moment, waiting for Nowe to respond to him in some way. But Reaper never faultered; his crimson gaze was as soft as ever as they would only ever be for the man, his posture relaxed, yet expectant. He felt the others shift a bit behind him, possibly to lunge forward should he need to be pulled back to safety. Any attempts would likely be met with a kick and a glare, however. He trusted his love, and he knew that even if he was to be hurt, it would at least be by someone he cared about. In a sick way, this made sense in the Fallen's mind, and he waited patiently for the other to get some sort of sense back to his eyes. When the other moved, he didn't back away - instead, he opened his arms and stepped forward to meet the other, giving a low noise akin to a growl at Sage when she moved to try and get between him. "Entspannen Sie sich. Er wird mir nicht Schaden." (You can relax. He will not harm me.) He told her, enunciating slowly as he spoke in German. He'd been trying to learn for a long time, and though his accent was slightly off and he was a bit too formal, he got his point across. At least, he hoped. Focusing his attention back on the one in his arms, he gently wrapped them around the other, being mindful of which areas had the burns on his back. "Nowe..."

He leaned in, nuzzling the other a bit and noting the shaking with a slight frown. The Fallen kept his gentle hold on the man, but began to back up a bit, ending up closer to the bed and continuing to try and reassure the other. "Pyre is dead, love... It's alright. We're okay..." Placing a light kiss to the other's temple, he continued to back up, making sure not to move too much to unbalance the man. Once he felt the bed hit the back of his legs, he leaned back a bit, trying to meet the other's gaze. "You should sit with me. Just so Patch and Sage don't get on our cases." He smiled faintly, head tilted to nuzzle the other again.

The End of the Beginning Empty
PostSubject: Re: The End of the Beginning   The End of the Beginning EmptyFri Aug 31, 2012 12:14 am

It didn't immediately register in Nowe's mind that Reaper had spoken in German. He was far too busy reassuring himself that they were both alive and trying to keep from passing out again. 'You trust him too much, Angel.' Was Sage's only reply to Reaper's words though a glare from Nowe kept her from saying anything more. As long as Nowe was in his right mind, Reaper was right. Nowe wouldn't harm him. But for those few tense moments, if Reaper had made a wrong move, Nowe could very well have hurt him, perhaps even killed him, though he would have regretted it later. when the angel wrapped his arms around him, Nowe buried his face in the Fae's shoulder and just breathed in his scent, acutely aware of a strong need for blood and the fact that Reaper smelled rather strongly of blood. It was someone else's blood, but the smell was still there and it smelled....well....rather good. Resisting the desire to bite him was easier said than done but he managed for the time being. Which was partly why he didn't nuzzle up to Reaper's neck. That was just a little too much temptation to try and resist.

Before Nowe could think of anything to say or do, he found himself being moved back toward the bed and Reaper was speaking. Pyre was dead. So that just left the matter of figuring out if Brio needed to end up the same way and then they could live in peace and not need to worry about anyone trying to kill them. At least as far as he knew. "You killed him." It wasn't a question. He vaguely recalled seeing Reaper rushing toward Pyre just before he'd blacked out. Besides, he wasn't sure Twister was really capable of finishing the job despite the fact it needed doing. Twister was simply not a killer. Plus he was injured. So it made sense that Reaper had killed Pyre. He glanced at the bed when they finally reached it and gladly sank down onto it, scooting back to try and find a comfortable way to lean against the pillows. When Reaper spoke and nuzzled him again he was distracted from his words by the fact the Fallen's neck was suddenly within biting distance and he considered taking advantage of their closeness. 'You can't bite him Nowe. You shouldn't bite anyone until you're stronger.' Sage's voice interrupted his thoughts and he frowned at her, grumbling something back in German though she merely shook her head at him. 'I don't care if he smells good. If you bite him or anyone else there's no guarantee you'll be able to stop yourself.' She indicated the room in general and he glanced around with a frown. He'd all but forgotten that there were other people in the room. And he could easily kill any one of them if he took too much blood.

Of course, as if he'd been summoned, one of Sage's werewolves entered the room with a large mug of something and pressed it into Nowe's hands before departing again. Nowe had often suspected Sage of being telepathic though she had never used her powers (if indeed she had them), on him. But it was times like this that he couldn't help but wonder again if she was hiding some magical talent. He sniffed at the cup and glanced at Sage and then at the rest of the people in the room. 'Just drink. It's Fae blood, and powerful stuff. It'll help you heal. Don't worry about them, if they don't want to watch they can leave.' Nowe still felt a little like he was being inconsiderate but Sage was right, if anyone didn't want to watch him drink a bit of blood, they could leave. So without any further looks around the room, he lifted the mug to his lips and drank. It was blood from a powerful Fae, or perhaps magically enhanced to be stronger (or maybe he was just that hurt that any blood would feel powerful) but he immediately felt life returning to his battered body and he lowered the mug with a soft sound of pain. "I've never had to heal burns before. I'm not looking forward to how much I'll be hurting while it happens." He commented, leaning against Reaper with a sigh. "Where's Twister?" He questioned, realizing the Air Angel wasn't in the room with them. He suddenly had to wonder if Twister was okay. Reaper had said 'we're okay' but did that mean Reaper and himself or Reaper and Twister?

The others in the room watched quietly during the...somewhat-reunion between the Vampire and the Fallen. They mostly had a united feeling of the situation; relief, along with a small bit of happiness. It was good to see their brother acting the way he was with the man, but they slowly began to disperse, long before the blood was brought in for the man. Some had things to look into, others wanted to check on Flare; of the ones who stayed behind, it would be Patch and Rose curled up in the corner, having had nothing else to look after in that moment. Reaper sniffed a bit towards the blood as Nowe took it, wrinkling his nose a bit and nestling closer to the other. He wasn't hungry at the moment, so it didn't interest him. A slight frown touched his features at the pained noise that came from the man and he nuzzled the other just a bit more, closing his eyes. "You can do it though. Not sure if you've had worse, but you'll have me to help." He murmured, just loud enough for Nowe's ears only.

His question earned him an eye half-opening to peer at him, a sly glint in them. "Twister's fine. First is prepping him for a special ritual as we speak. He was very...insistent about you being there to witness it though." Curling around Nowe a bit more, he chose to ignore the fact that others were in the room and just made himself comfortable. "But that won't happen until you feel you're up to being moved at all. So rest for now. Ritual-watching later. Okay?" Despite ending the sentence with a question, there really wasn't much of a choice for his love at the moment. He -would- be resting for a while, whether he wanted to or not. The fact was that he needed it, and the Fallen was going to make sure he got it.

PostSubject: Re: The End of the Beginning   The End of the Beginning EmptyMon Sep 03, 2012 1:52 am

Nowe half considered offering Reaper some of the blood but thought better of it since he figured Sage would protest. Instead he took another drink and considered the taste of the blood as he drank it. It was familiar yet not. It was Fae blood, he could tell that much. And powerful Fae blood, just like Sage had said. Powerful usually meant old and he had to wonder who she'd gotten it from. No one he'd ever bitten before, that much he was certain. But it was still somewhat familiar and he couldn't place why. Reaper's whispered words broke into his thoughts and he smiled as he leaned into the Fallen. "Define worse. Pain wise and length of healing time, this is the worst I've ever been hurt. But as for total number of injuries, I've had worse." Reaper had hurt him worse when they'd fought months ago. At least in the number of total injuries he'd sustained though he'd healed those in a matter of days. This would take a couple weeks at least. And he wasn't sure the worst areas of the burn would ever fully heal. He was likely to have scars across his back thanks to Pyre. He took a breath and cozied up to the Fallen, making himself as comfortable as possible considering with each drink he took of the blood his wounds hurt more. "I love you, Reaper. I'm glad to have you by my side." He added, keeping his voice low so no one else would hear (though he noted a smile on Sage's face as she left the room, content that Nowe was in good hands for the time being.

He gave Reaper a confused look at the sly glint he caught in the other's eyes before he answered his question about Twister. "Okay first, why the look? Am I not allowed to be concerned for your bother? Second, what sort of ritual and why does he want me there? It's not like I'm important....at least not to him." Twister was a bit of a mystery. Nowe liked him well enough, enough to have taken him in when he had nowhere else to go and help him heal after losing his wings. But beyond that, he hadn't really gone out of his way to befriend the Wind User. He'd just been nice to him since Twister had almost given his life to help him and Reaper escape. The way Nowe saw it, he owed Twister a debt of sorts. He just wasn't sure how to repay it. When Reaper continued, he carefully considered his physical state of being able to move and shifted a bit. "I feel well enough now. I'll just need somewhere to sit and someone to lean on." He said, gently giving Reaper a prod as he said that last. He didn't really want anyone else near him, the fact the wanted Reaper this close said a lot about just how much he cared for the Fallen. Any other time, he'd have wanted to retreat into seclusion while he healed to protect himself, it was simply an instinct thing.
